Academic discussion with Belgian Professor Sven Biscop

On December 3rd, 2018, the Institute for Foreign Policy and Strategic Studies, Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam held a meeting with Belgian Professor Sven Biscop. This activity which included the participation of the Belgian Deputy Ambassador in Hanoi and researchers, lecturers of the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam (DAV), was held under the chair of Dr. Tran Viet Thai.

The contents of the discussion revolved around some main issues such as (i) The current integration process of Europe and the challenges, especially after the Brexit agreement was reached by the UK and the EU; (ii) Europe's historical experiences in World War I and 100 years of peacebuilding in Europe and lessons learned for the Asia-Pacific region; (iii) Current hot issues such as the strategic competition and the US-China trade war and its effects on Europe; (iii) The role of the EU in global governance, multilateral mechanisms such as the G20; (iv) Towards ASEAN 2020, the EU's views on ASEAN and Vietnam's role in ASEAN.

In addition, Professor Biscop also had a lively and interesting discussion that lasted for more than 2 hours with DAV students./.
