President Nguyen Hung Son receives the Ambassador of the Republic of Panama to Viet Nam

Dr. Nguyen Hung Son expressed his pleasure in welcoming Ambassador Nubiela Ayala Modes to the DAV, especially in the context of growing cooperation between the two countries across various fields. He emphasized that Viet Nam and Panama hold great potential for expanding collaboration, particularly in areas where Panama has strengths, such as maritime security research, the blue economy, and international maritime law. Dr. Son noted that in today’s global context, promoting academic exchange and experience-sharing in these areas would significantly enhance mutual understanding and support policymaking in both countries. In that spirit, he proposed that the two sides coordinate to organize seminars and roundtable discussions on maritime law and ocean governance, thereby establishing an effective network among experts and researchers from both nations.

Ambassador Nubiela Ayala Modes expressed her gratitude for the warm reception by DAV and conveyed her strong interest in enhancing people-to-people exchanges and academic cooperation between the two countries, particularly between the Diplomatic Academy of Viet Nam and partners in Panama, including the Panamanian Diplomatic Academy. The Ambassador also expressed her admiration for Viet Nam’s “Bamboo Diplomacy,” considering it a unique diplomatic model characterized by creativity, flexibility, and national identity. She highly valued the resilience and adaptability embodied in this approach and emphasized that it serves as a valuable lesson for Panama in crafting a suitable diplomatic strategy amidst today’s changing international landscape.

The meeting took place in a cordial, friendly, and constructive atmosphere. Both sides agreed to maintain close contact and further promote exchanges of delegations, as well as enhance diplomatic, academic, and maritime cooperation between Viet Nam and Panama in the time ahead./.
