Diplomatic Academy Marks Successful Co-organization of 2022 Francophonie Run - Elle peut!

On May 21, the Diplomatic Academy of Viet Nam successfully co-organized the 2022 Francophonie Run, bringing together nearly 1,700 runners. The active participation of the Academy's students and volunteers made significant contributions to the event's resounding success.

The 2022 Francophonie Run - Course de la Francophonie 2022 «Elle peut» was jointly initiated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Viet Nam, the Hanoi People's Committee, the International Organization of the Francophonie (OIF), the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF), and the Diplomatic Academy. This sports and cultural event dedicated to French speakers, Francophiles, and running enthusiasts officially took place on May 21st at Hoan Kiem Lake, Hanoi, attracting nearly 1,700 participants of all ages.

Carrying the theme "Elle peut" ("She Can"), the 2022 Francophonie Run embodied the commitment of individuals within the Francophonie community to contribute to the sustainable development of their nations and societies. Embedded within the framework of diplomatic, cultural, and sporting events, the Race was organized to celebrate International Francophonie Day on March 20th, the 25th anniversary of Vietnam hosting the 7th Francophonie Summit in Hanoi (1997-2022), and to honor the significance of Secretary-General of the Francophonie Louise Mushikiwabo's official visit to Vietnam in March 2022.

This year's Francophone Run featured the participation of Nguyen Minh Vu, Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, along with leaders and representatives from various central committees, ministries, and Hanoi city authorities, as well as ambassadors, embassy representatives, and Francophone organizations in Hanoi. Mr. Do Duc Thanh, Officer in charge of Francophone activities, represented the Diplomatic Academy, accompanied by over 55 lecturers and students from the Academy who also participated in this running competition.

In his speech, Mr. Laurent Sermet, Director of the Asia-Pacific Region of the Francophone University Agency (AUF), expressed his deepest gratitude to the Francophone students who dedicated their time and effort to the logistics of the event. It is safe to say that the active contributions and participation of the organizing committee members and many volunteers from the Diplomatic Academy have left a deep impression not only on the partners but also on all participants of the event.

In its role as the implementing agency, the Diplomatic Academy demonstrated its professionalism and dynamism by having over 100 French-language students directly involved in the organizing committee, contributing significantly to the overall success of the 2022 Francophone Running Race. As the core force involved in the event's communication team, planning side activities, assigning and organizing personnel to serve the event, French-language students in particular and the Diplomatic Academy in general showcased their poise, along with a wealth of skills and experience, ready to take on the organization of events of international scale.

A variety of cultural exchange activities, exhibitions, and French-language performances by Francophone organizations, businesses, general education schools, and universities teaching French in Hanoi were organized on the sidelines of the event. The Diplomatic Academy students themselves planned these side activities, which attracted a great deal of attention not only from the runners but also from the local residents. The students' enthusiasm and creativity at the event were a special highlight, enhancing the image of the Diplomatic Academy with increasingly professional and dynamic students./.
