17 outstanding students of the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam awarded the Nguyen Co Thach Study Encouragement Scholarship 2023

On December 29th 2023, the DAV’s Department of Education and Training - Student Affairs Office organized the second Nguyen Co Thach Scholarship Awarding Ceremony for 17 outstanding students.

The Nguyen Co Thach Study Encouragement Scholarship Program was established to motivate DAV’s young talents - students with excellent academic performances, research products and leadership capacity.

The ceremony was attended by Former Politburo member, Former Permanent Deputy Prime Minister, Former Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh; DAV’s Acting President Pham Lan Dung; DAV’s Vice President Nguyen Thi Thin; and leaders of the Academy Office units, including Faculties and Research Institutes, lecturers and other students.

With his ambition, strategic thinking and determination for innovation, Late Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Co Thach has been considered a diplomatic symbol of Vietnam, helping the country record significant victories in the international arena. The example of Late Minister Nguyen Co Thach is the spirit of self-study, self-training in foreign languages, and broadening the knowledge of political theory, revolutionary cause, international relations, international economics, etc.

The Late Minister’s learning was not only through books but also through work practice, consulting with experts, and listening to colleagues’ opinions to equip himself with profound knowledge in numerous fields. Therefore, Late Minister Nguyen Co Thach’s example of learning and striving is a model for generations of young diplomats - talents that will greatly contribute to the country’s development.

Acting President Pham Lan Dung emphasized the significance of the Nguyen Co Thach Scholarship to the DAV student community.

In her opening speech, DAV’s Acting President Pham Lan Dung emphasized that the Nguyen Co Thach scholarship program was established in April 2021 on the 100th anniversary of the birth of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Co Thach (1921 - 2021), who was also a  Politburo member, Vice Chairman of the Council of Ministers.

The Nguyen Co Thach Scholarship Program was established to encourage DAV’s young talents and students with excellent academic performance, research products and leadership capacity; students who learn virtues, ideas, and vision of late Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Co Thach.

The Nguyen Co Thach Scholarship has made a big splash in the DAV student community to be considered one of the most prestigious scholarships of the Academy despite its new establishment.

Former Minister of Foreign Affairs delivered his opening remarks and held an open discussion with DAV students.

Former Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh affirmed that the purpose of the scholarship fund is to encourage students to strive to study and achieve the best results during their university years, as well as produce scientific research topics of good quality, thus demonstrating their charisma, bravery, and stature.

In the coming time, the scholarship fund will continue to expand through financial sources, creating favorable conditions for more students to be awarded, thereby promoting the wishes of late Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Co Thach in foreign affairs officer training.

The Nguyen Co Thach Scholarship has great significance and is appropriate in the context of the diplomatic sector’s need to build a force of foreign affairs officers with bravery, quality, capacity, style of professionalism, and innovation; to integrate internationally and proactively adapt to changes in the domestic and international situation.

The student with the First Prize: Le Nguyen Chi, Batch 48 - International Economics.

After fair and transparent rounds of admission, the Council selected 17 students to be awarded the Nguyen Co Thach scholarship for the second year, specifically:

1 student with the First Prize: Le Nguyen Chi (Batch 48 - International Economics)

2 students with Second Prizes: Le Hoai Linh (Batch 47 - International Communications); Nguyen Trinh Tam Hien (Class 47 - International Politics and Diplomacy).

3 students with Third Prizes: Dinh Thi My Oanh (Batch 47 - International Politics and Diplomacy); Bui Thi Le Linh (Batch 48 - English Language); Bui Thi Thuy Duong (Batch 47 - International Law).

4 students with Consolation Prizes: Hoang Phuong Quynh (Batch 47 - International Politics and Diplomacy); Le Doan Thao Vy (Batch 47 - International Communications); Pham Thi Kim Dung (Batch 48 - International Economics); Truong Thi Tuyet (Batch 48 - International Economics).

7 students with Promising Prizes: Tran Thuy Duong (Batch 48 - International Communications); Tran Vu Bao Ngan (Batch 48 - International Politics and Diplomacy); Ngo Minh Kien (Batch 48 - International Politics and Diplomacy); Tran Ha Thu (Batch 48 - International Economics major); Tran Vu Dung (Batch 48 - International Economics major); Le Nhat Quynh (Batch 48 - International Law); Nguyen Thi Hang (Batch 48 - English Language).

The Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam believes that the excellent students awarded the Nguyen Co Thach Scholarship will be pioneers of knowledge, talent, and enthusiasm, continuing their efforts to serve the country, serve the people, and make positive contributions to the society with the honor and pride they are given.
