On November 19, 2024, at the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, Mr. Ngô Quang Anh, Acting Director General of the Foreign Service Training Center, Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, welcomed a delegation from Zimbabwe led by Mr. Berejena Steyn, Chief Director of Public Sector Reforms and Performance Management of Zimbabwe. The meeting took place in a cordial and cooperative atmosphere, providing an opportunity for the two sides to share experiences and marking a significant step in strengthening the cooperation between Vietnam and Zimbabwe.

During the meeting, Mr. Berejena expressed the delegation's desire to gain deeper insights into Vietnam's achievements in economic and social development, particularly in human resources development following Doi Moi (aka reform). This reflects Zimbabwe's interest in Vietnam’s development model, as a country that overcame numerous challenges to become one of the fastest-growing economies in Southeast Asia.

Director General Ngô Quang Anh introduced the history and development of the Diplomatic Academy, highlighting its prominent activities in research, policy advice, and training for officers and students. He noted that the Academy has conducted remarkable reforms in its organizational structure and operations to meet increasing societal demand and international integration. Its training programs are designed flexibly, blending theoretical knowledge with practical application, enabling students and officers from various ministries and localities across the country to enhance their abilities to work in an international environment.

Representatives from the Department of Undergraduate and Postgraduate Education and Training Affairs, the Center for Information and Documentation, the East Sea Institute, and the External Relations Division actively participated in the discussions. They shared valuable experiences in their respective areas, particularly achievements in administrative and institutional reforms within the Academy. These reforms have not only improved operational efficiency, but also fostered a dynamic and friendly learning and research environment for students.

The Zimbabwean delegation showed particular interest in Vietnam's training programs for foreign service officers and student exchange initiatives. Mr. Berejena posed various questions on the organization of training courses and modern teaching methods applied by the Academy. Both sides explored possibilities for collaboration in student and delegation exchanges to achieve mutual goals in personnel training and development.

In conclusion of the meeting, Mr. Ngô Quang Anh and Mr. Berejena agreed on the necessity of enhancing cooperation in human resources development and training for officers. Both parties recognized that sharing experience and knowledge would contribute to sustainable development for both nations. Mr. Berejena expressed gratitude for the Academy's warm reception and expressed hope for further opportunities for collaboration in the future.
