

On the afternoon of March 12th 2019, in Hanoi, the Conference on the theme of “Diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Azerbaijan: Similarity, development, and the role in construction of the country” was held by the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam and the Azerbaijan Embassy in Hanoi. The conference was held in the 100-year anniversary of establishment of the Azerbaijan diplomacy and the visit to Vietnam of the Deputy Foreign Minister Ramiz Hasanov attending the Political Consultant at the Deputy Foreign Minister level of the two countries. The Conference was held with an aim to enhance knowledge and cooperation between the Vietnam and Azerbaijan diplomacy. Attending the Conference were delegates from officials, Ministries, departments, and scholars from Institutes, research centers of Vietnam and Azerbaijan, with representatives of the Azerbaijan Embassy and some Embassies of other countries in Vietnam. Vietnamese Permanent Deputy Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son and Azerbaijan Deputy Foreign Minister Ramiz Hasanov were attended and delivered the opening remarks.
In his opening speech, Vietnamese Permanent Deputy Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son affirmed that the traditionally long-standing relationship between Vietnam and Azerbaijan continues to be strengthened and developed. As the coordinator enhancing bilateral relations, the two Foreign Ministries, with other departments, have pro-actively implemented the agreements reached between two sides’ senior leaders, have gradually been completing the legal foundation for bilateral cooperation, expanding cooperation in various fields such as commerce, oil and gas trading, defense, education and training.
Azerbaijan Deputy Foreign Minister R. Hasanov said that, July 9th 2019 was the 100-year anniversary of establishment of the Azerbaijan diplomacy. Mr. R. Hasanov emphasized that, the Vietnam-Azerbaijan relationship is a historical one, at the same time expressed the demand and belief that the relations between two countries would continue to flourish to a new level.
Leading the discussion session at the Conference, Doctor Pham Lan Dung, Vice President of the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, emphasized the importance of experience exchanging and policy consultant between trusting partners within an extremely changing and unpredictable global context. With that being said, the Conference is a good opportunity for advisors who make and implement policies of the two countries, to sit together to analyze and summarize the achievements as well as the expectations of the two sides, from there to set the right direction for the future.
Through consultation and speeches, the delegates had shared and thoughtfully analyzed the achievements, advantages and disadvantages in the process of country building and socio-economic development of each country, as well as the history of relations between Vietnam and Azerbaijan since the two countries gained their independence up until now. Generally, the delegates said that, the bilateral relationship between Vietnam and Azerbaijan is still on its way of developing and that the two countries need to continue coordinating closely and promoting cooperation, in which diplomacy plays the core, serving national construction and development of each nation as well as the common interests of the two countries.
