DAV Ambassadors’ Journey Organizes Ambassadors’ Talk #5 on “The Application of Communication in Public Diplomacy”

Ambassadors’ Talk #5, themed “The application of communication in Public Diplomacy,” provided participants of the DAV Ambassadors’ Journey 2025 course and attending students with insightful and practical perspectives on the role of communication in foreign affairs. Drawing on real-world experiences shared by Ambassador Luong Thanh Nghi, the talk contributed to shaping participants’ mindsets, equipping them with essential skills, and offering practical guidance for both academic pursuits and career development.

On the morning of March 31, 2026, Ambassadors’ Talk #5, under the chairmanship of Ambassador Luong Thanh Nghi, was held in an open and professional atmosphere, attracting active participation from course members and a large number of students. The event was honored by the presence of Ambassador, Associate Professor Dr. Dang Dinh Quy; Ambassador Nguyen Thi Bich Hue; Ms. Hoang Mai Huong, Head of the Department of Undergraduate and Graduate Education; along with participants of the DAV Ambassadors’ Journey 2025 and numerous students from the Academy.

At the beginning of the session, Ambassador Luong Thanh Nghi approached the topic from a comprehensive perspective, clarifying the role of communication in public diplomacy. With nearly 30 years of experience in journalism and external communication at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, along with three overseas postings and extensive involvement in public diplomacy initiatives both domestically and internationally, he emphasized that communication is not merely a tool for information dissemination but also a vital instrument for nation branding, enhancing mutual understanding, and building trust with international audiences.

In the context of rapidly evolving digital media and the swift global spread of information, communication plays an increasingly important role in shaping national image and promoting foreign relations. For students of the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, understanding and effectively utilizing communication tools not only enhances professional competence but also serves as a crucial foundation for adapting to a dynamic and multidimensional working environment.

Ambassador Luong Thanh Nghi also underscored the importance of developing a strategic communication mindset, proactively adapting to a multi-dimensional information landscape, and improving the ability to process and verify information in the digital environment.
