MOU Signing Ceremony between US-ASEAN Business Council and Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam.
On March 9th, within the reception to welcome US Ambassador Marc E. Knapper’s official term to Vietnam, the US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC) held an MoU signing ceremony between the USABC and the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam (DAV) at Melia Hotel.
USABC is a Washington, D.C.-based and non-profit organization representing 175 corporations with global business operations, the majority of which are listed on the top 500 US companies voted by Fortune magazine. Its members operate in some of the most diverse, dynamic and influential economic sectors in the United States. The Council supports members’ businesses in Southeast Asia, contributing to promoting economic relations between the United States and countries in the region.
On the Vietnamese side, the ceremony was attended by leaders of advisory agencies who provides consultation to the President, the Prime Minister and the President of the National Assembly; Leaders of the Boards, Ministries, Branches, National Assembly Committees and localities; Leaders of Union of Friendship Organizations; Vietnam-US Friendship Association; Heads of Business Associations; Leaders of businesses.
On the side of the U.S. and other countries, the program was honored to welcome U.S. Ambassador Marc E. Knapper; Former Ambassador Ted G. Osius, U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam (2014-2017); Former Ambassador Michael Michalak, U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam (2007-2011); Delegates from the U.S. high-ranking business delegation; Ambassadors, Heads of Diplomatic Delegations from ASEAN, APEC, EU and CPTPP countries; Leaders of international organizations in Vietnam; US Embassy officials; American business leaders.
From the DAV, there was the attendance of Dr. Pham Lan Dung - Acting Director of the Academy, Associate Professor Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan and Dr. Nguyen Hung Son - Vice President of the Academy.
The MoU aims to promote cooperation between the USABC and DAV in many fields, including: Support to improve the quality of training; Provision of internship and job opportunities for students and interns; Research cooperation in fields of mutual interest; Databases and materials upgrade for training and research; Encouraging scholars and students exchange programs; Exchanging pointers and information through seminars, conferences, and similar events; Cooperation in organizing and/or participating in training programs and exchange events organized by either party.
Dr. Pham Lan Dung - DAV Acting Director believes that the MoU will bring about valuable opportunities for the training of many generations of students of the Academy, and at the same time promote the relationship of DAV and USABC as well as enhance the understanding and exchanges between Vietnam and the United States.
Along with the previous MoU’s as well as those to be signed in the near future, this MoU once again affirms the effectiveness and meaningfulness of the career support activities for students implemented by the DAV Board of Academic Affairs, in order to expand the scale of cooperation with domestic and international leading corporations and enterprises in various fields to provide high-quality human resources for corporations and businesses; and to take advantage of the resources of domestic and international businesses and socio-economic organizations to support students’ entrepreneurship.
