

The exchange was chaired by Dr. Do Thanh Hai, Deputy Director of the East Sea Institute, Diplomatic Academy, with the participation of several researchers and lecturers from the East Sea Institute, Institute of Foreign Policy and Strategic Studies, Department of International Politics & Diplomacy, and Department of International Law. The Australian delegation was led by Lieutenant Colonel Timothy James Minion, along with 13 students and several staff members from the Australian Embassy in Vietnam.
During the exchange, Dr. Do Thanh Hai and Dr. Vu Hai Dang (East Sea Institute) presented an overview of the Diplomatic Academy, recent developments in the East Sea, and the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS). Additionally, both sides discussed various issues of mutual interest, including Vietnam-Australia relations, including great power competition, and ASEAN's role.
At the conclusion of the exchange, Lieutenant Colonel Timothy James Minion, on behalf of the Australian delegation, exteded gratitude to the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam for the reception and the informative session. Dr. Do Thanh Hai expressed hope that the Australian delegation would have an effective tour of study and practical research in Vietnam.
