The Faculty of International Economics’ students presenting a discourse on “The impact of the anti-recession packages due to the COVID-19 pandemic on financial instability in Vietnam”

On the morning of April 3, 2023, the Faculty of Finance and Banking - Hanoi Open University successfully organized the Seminar themed “The impact of the anti-recession packages due to the COVID-19 pandemic on financial instability in Vietnam ''.

Attending the seminar, from the Hanoi Open University, there was the participation of Dr. Bui Thanh Son - Vice President. From the Faculty of Finance and Banking - Hanoi Open University, there was the participation of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Trong Tai - lecturer and topic leader; MBF. Tran Anh Tuan - lecturer and topic member; Dr. Tran Phuong Thao - lecturer, topic secretary along with other lecturers and student representatives of classes and courses studying at the Faculty of Finance and Banking. From the Faculty of International Economics - Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, there was the participation of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Lich - Former Dean of the Faculty of International Economics with students from class of KT46C - Vu Thi Kim Lien and class of KT46B - Nguyen Hai Phuong.

In the opening remarks at the seminar, Dr. Bui Thanh Son emphasized the importance of the seminar both in scientific research and practice. At the seminar, student Vu Thi Kim Lien presented a discourse on “Policy solutions and suggestions to respond to the risk of financial instability from anti-recession packages due to the COVID-19 pandemic”. The discourse pointed out that the financial support packages helped countries revitalize the economy, but they caused inflation to become complicated, leading to financial instability. From analyzing the current situation as well as unpredictable developments, many issues need to be paid attention to by administrators in order to have appropriate scenarios in policy administration. Next, student Nguyen Hai Phuong presented a discourse themed  “Experience in responding to the risk of financial instability from anti-recession support packages”. This article studied the economic support packages used by the US and the EU to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic, the consequences of these support packages on the economy and the countries' measures to respond to the risk of financial instability. Therefore, studying the effectiveness of measures and drawing some experience for Vietnam to learn and cope with the risk of financial instability from its economic support packages.

Along with the above two students directly participating in the seminar, two other students were Nguyen Thi Quynh Anh (KT46C) and Hoang Mai Linh (KDQT48C1) also had their research articles published in the Yearbook. In general, the research of Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam students has attracted the attention of scientists and is highly appreciated for its research methods, as well as contributions to knowledge.

This seminar is a testament that the Faculty of International Economics, Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam always facilitates students’ participation in scientific research; meeting and learning from lecturers and scientists in and out of the Faculty to improve specialized knowledge and independent research ability. Through these activities, students can hone essential skills such as analyzing, summarizing, synthesizing data and information, and giving presentations at conferences and seminars, etc. This will be an important stepping stone to help students develop their own abilities, score points in the eyes of recruiters and increase their chances of receiving many valuable scholarships in the future./.
