Workshop on Linguistic subjects with professors from University of Glasgow

11:48 26/10/2023

The University of Glasgow recently hosted an engaging and insightful workshop on linguistics in collaboration with the English faculty of the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam. The event, which took place on 24 October 2023, brought together roughly 200 students, lecturers, and linguistics enthusiasts to explore various facets of linguistics research and its global applications.

The workshop featured a stellar lineup of guest speakers, including Dr. Angela Gayton, who also serves as the Programme Convenor of the MSc Applied Linguistics at the University of Glasgow, alongside Prof. Tom Bartlett and Dr. Piotr Wegorowski, who offered insights into the aspects of linguistic research at the University of Glasgow, including Discourse Analysis, Systemic Functional Linguistics, and Language and Globalisation. These subjects coincide with the curriculum of the English Language major at DAV, hence the knowledge that they bring to students of the intricacies of the English language, as well as opportunities to learn more about the Msc. Applied Linguistics programme at the University of Glasgow.

The event not only deepened participants' knowledge of linguistics but also solidified the bonds between the two institutions, paving the way for future academic collaborations and cultural exchanges.

Should students have any questions relating to the content of the linguistic subjects shared in the workshop, or to find out more about  the Msc Applied Linguistics at the University of Glasgow, they can reach the professors via their emails:
