Director-General of the BRI Research Institute for International Cooperation and Development (BRRI) visit the Diplomatic Academy of Viet Nam

On December 8, 2025, as part of her visit to Viet Nam, Professor Tao Yitao, Director-General of the Belt and Road Research Institute (Shenzhen) for International Cooperation and Development (BRRI), led a delegation from Shenzhen University to visit and hold a working session with the Diplomatic Academy of Viet Nam.

Dr. Nguyen Hung Son, President of the Diplomatic Academy of Viet Nam, chaired the meeting with the BRRI delegation. The meeting was attended by representatives from the Institute for Foreign Policy and Strategic Studies, the East Sea Institute, the Faculty of International Politics and Diplomacy, as well as outstanding students from the Faculty of Chinese Language.

Speaking at the meeting, Dr. Nguyen Hung Son expressed his pleasure in welcoming Professor Tao Yitao. He noted his interest in hearing her insights on Shenzhen’s economic and sci-tech development experience and hoped to explore further opportunities for strengthening academic cooperation between the two sides in the coming time.

Professor Tao Yitao expressed her delight and  sense of familiarity in visiting the Diplomatic Academy of Viet Nam. She shared valuable perspectives on China’s economic and technological transformation, including the process of industrialisation, transition toward a knowledge-based and high-tech economy, efforts to address overcapacity, and policies to attract talent, along with potential lessons for Viet Nam. Professor Tao also introduced student exchange programs and scholarship opportunities available to DAV students at Shenzhen University.

Professor Tao previously served as Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Secretary of Discipline Inspection Commission of Shenzhen University (SZU). She is currently President and Director-General of the Belt and Road Research Institute (Shenzhen) for International Cooperation and Development (BRRI), Senior Professor at SZU, and Director of China Center for Special Economic Zone Research (CCSEZR) of SZU. She has made numerous significant contributions to the conceptualization of Special Economic Zones, China’s development theory, and policy recommendations for emerging market economies.

The meeting concluded successfully in an warm and constructive atmosphere, enabling both sides to engage in deeper discussions on issues of mutual interest and further strengthen the cooperative relationship between the Diplomatic Academy of Viet Nam and the Belt and Road Research Institute (Shenzhen) for International Cooperation and Development (BRRI)./.
