Leaders of Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam meet with Governor of Gunma Prefecture, Japan

On the afternoon of October 12, 2024, in Hanoi, Dr. Nguyen Thi Thin, Vice President of the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam (DAV), met with Mr. Yamamoto Ichita, Governor of Gunma Prefecture, Japan. 

Attending the meeting, from the DAV, were Vice President Dr. Nguyen Thi Thin and other representatives from DAV’s departments. On the side of Gunma Prefecture, Governor Yamamoto Ichita was joined by delegates from provincial departments and agencies.

In the meeting, the two sides reviewed the achievements of the cooperation between the DAV and Gunma Prefecture since the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in 2022, notably the student exchange program held in February 2024. This program left a good imprint in the relationship between the DAV and Gunma Prefecture in promoting educational cooperation and cultural exchange between Vietnam and Japan. 

Dr. Nguyen Thi Thin and Mr. Yamamoto Ichita reaffirmed the importance of continuing to implement the programs outlined in the signed MOU. Additionally, both sides emphasized the need to expand cooperation between the Academy and Japanese universities and businesses in general, as well as universities and businesses in Gunma Prefecture in particular. 

The Diplomatic Academy and Gunma Prefecture agreed to diversify forms of cooperation in education and research, including student, scholar, and researcher exchange programs, and to promote scholarship programs at various levels of study, including Master’s and Doctoral degrees.

The meeting between the Vice President of the Diplomatic Academy and the Governor of Gunma Prefecture, once again, affirmed the strong commitment to cooperation between the two sides in the near future. Such forms of collaboration are expected to enhance the connection between the two educational systems and create favorable conditions for Vietnamese students, scholars, and researchers to get access to advanced learning and research environment in Japan.
