Dr. Nguyễn Thị Thìn, Vice President of the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, receives representatives from the Sciences Po Paris Institute and the French Embassy

On the morning of July 9, 2024, at the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam (DAV), Dr. Nguyễn Thị Thìn, Vice President of the DAV, welcomed representatives from the Institute of Political Studies Sciences Po Paris, ranked third worldwide in the field of politics and international relations (according to the QS ranking 2023).

Ms. Pauline Couteau, International Affairs Manager for Central and South-East Asia, South Korea, Japan and the Pacific represented Sciences Po Paris. From the French Embassy in Hanoi, Mr. Corentin Houchet, Political Counselor, and Ms. Marine Bruder, University Affairs Officer, attended the meeting. Representing the DAV were Mr. Dương Thanh Bình, Deputy Chief of Staff, Mr. Nguyễn Hoàng Như Thanh, Head of the French Department, Ms. Phạm Thanh Huyền, Acting Head of the Department of Examination and Quality Assurance, and many lecturers from the French Department.

At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Nguyễn Thị Thìn welcomed the delegation from the Sciences Po Paris and the French Embassy to the DAV. She expressed her delight at the opportunity for cooperation between the DAV and Sciences Po Paris, a renowned institution in France and worldwide for political and social sciences. Both parties agreed to draft and sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by September 2024.

On her part, Ms. Pauline Couteau expressed her gratitude for the warm welcome from the DAV and emphasized the importance of the MoU that both sides intend to sign. She stated that this milestone would foster closer cooperation between the two institutions. Ms. Pauline Couteau also mentioned that Sciences Po Paris is actively seeking opportunities for collaboration in training, research, and student and faculty exchange with partners in the Asia-Pacific region.

The two sides had a frank and open discussion about the draft MoU being developed. Several topics were actively exchanged, including undergraduate and postgraduate exchanges, the number of exchange students per semester, application requirements for the exchange program, scholarship support for DAV students, faculty exchanges, joint research and publications, and the co-organization and participation in scientific seminars and conferences. Sciences Po Paris showed great interest in topics within the Asia-Pacific region.

At the end of the meeting, the participants expressed their hope that the DAV and Sciences Po Paris would conduct more frequent discussions on mutual interests for long-term and extensive cooperation in the future. Additionally, representatives from both sides exchanged meaningful souvenirs, marking a new chapter in their cooperative relationship.
